PFD Loan Program

Manitoba launched the PFD Loan Program in 2006 with the goal of reducing the frequency of drowning incidents in northern and remote communities.

Apply for the PFD Loan Program Now!

A community must apply and agree to run this program to receive PFD’s. They are sent free of charge. The program is funded by Manitoba Department of Health, Healthy Living & Seniors. To date nearly 6,000 PFD’s have been distributed among almost 100 of Manitoba’s northern communities. That number continues to grow each year.

How Does the Program Work?

  • Communities are responsible for organizing their own PFD loan programs.
  • PFD’s are usually loaned out in a system similar to a library.
