Manitoba launched the Lifejacket Loan Program in 2006 with the goal of reducing the frequency of drowning incidents in northern and remote communities.
There are two ways you can apply for the Lifejacket Loan Program. Either fill out and fax or mail in your application, or submit the completed form electronically:
Lifejacket Loaner Program Application
A community must apply and agree to run this program to receive lifejackets/PFD’s. They are sent free of charge. The program is funded by the Government of Manitoba. To date almost 8,000 lifejackets & PFD’s have been distributed among almost 100 of Manitoba’s northern communities. That number continues to grow each year.
How Does the Program Work?
- Communities are responsible for organizing their own Lifejacket Loan Program.
- Lifejackets/PFD’s are usually loaned out in a system similar to a library.
